Standing stone in Baile Mhac Airt Íochtarach

Located in a hollow on a level landscape. This is a conglomerate stone with a rectangular cross-section (dims. 1m x 0.3m; H 1.05m) oriented NE-SW and situated c. 30m N of a possible standing stone (WA039-031001-). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). This standing stone is likely to date to the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age, based on its form and orientation. Its alignment and proximity to another possible standing stone may suggest a ritual or ceremonial function, possibly linked to landscape marking or astronomical observation.
