St Stephen's Well, Braeval

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records St Stephen's Well, Braeval as Holy Well (medieval), Spring (nil Antiquity). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

St Stephen's Well is associated with St Stephen, one of the first Christian martyrs, and is linked to traditions of healing and pilgrimage common in Scottish sacred sites. Holy wells dedicated to St Stephen were often visited for their supposed curative properties, particularly for ailments of the eyes and skin.
