Ó Danachair (1955, 203) recorded the following details about this holy well; ‘St Nicholas' Well on 1840 map. A slow spring in a cupola of brick, with a slab "St Nicholas, pray for us". Rounds were made especially on Sundays, but devotion has died out. The well seems to have been in the ecclesiastical parish of St Nicholas'. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 01 July 2019

St. Nicholas Well is associated with St. Nicholas of Myra, a widely venerated Christian saint linked to miracles and protection, particularly of children and sailors. The tradition of making "rounds" around the well, especially on Sundays, reflects a common Irish practice of walking set numbers of circuits as part of devotional or healing rituals.
