St. Marks Church

St. Mark's church is a 19th century Church of Ireland church which may have been built on the site of or in close vicinity to the church of Ballyitty [Ballyatty] which is mentioned in a 1619 land grant to Edmond Medhopp (CSP Irel. Jas. 1, 452). In this land grant it mentions 'the lands of Kilnebrosnye 35a, and Glasterymore 341a, except 20a belonging and adjoining the church of Ballyitty as a glebe' (CSP Irel. Jas 1, 452). There are no surface remains of any medieval church within the present church and graveyard.

St. Mark's Church in Glebe, Clonlisk, was built in the 19th century as a Church of Ireland church, possibly on or near the site of the earlier medieval church of Ballyitty, mentioned in a 1619 land grant. Its construction reflects the continued religious presence in the area following earlier ecclesiastical traditions.
