St. Dominicks Well

In a wooded area, on level ground to c. 80m SE of Ballindoon Dominican priory (SL034-211001-) and on the S side of a 6m high cliff. The well is now covered by a pump-house (2.7m x 2.7m). A small muddy stream flows SW from the pump-house toward Lough Arrow. No pilgrimage tokens or other signs of recent use are evident. According to Wood-Martin (1882, 228), the well gushed forth from the base of the cliff and stations were held there on St Dominick's Day, the 4th of August.
