Clarke identifies a fish slip at the east end of the quay, partly under Fyan's castle, linked to shambles in 1456 and 1558. A new slipway was requested in 1589, though its exact location remains unclear. The water likely pulled heavy catches onto stone while men hauled them past castle shadows, turning tide and muscle into daily bread.
