Slains Castle, Kennels

Kennels (post Medieval)

What is recorded here

Kennels Castle stands in Aberdeenshire as a post-medieval ruin where stone walls still outline chambers that once hosted human life. The structure survived long enough to become a landmark, though its chambers no longer hold warmth or witness the movements of the people who built them. What remains is a skeleton of intent, preserved by distance and time rather than by the hands of those who first shaped it.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Slains Castle, Kennels as Kennels (post Medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Slains Castle, Kennels was built by the Keith family in the late 15th century and is remembered for its historical association with the Earls Marischal of Scotland.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
