Dunvegan Castle laundry on Skye washed estate clothes from the nineteenth century into the twentieth, turning castle life into repeated physical labour. The building also served as an eighteenth-century estate office and house, which means it stored papers, hosted people and produced clean linen for a large household. Water, soap, heavy cloth and human muscles did work that no grand chamber can display.

The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Dunvegan Castle, including its laundry, was held by the Macleod clan, who have been Lords of the Isles and chiefs of Clan Macleod since at least the 13th century. The castle is important as the traditional seat of the Macleods and a significant historical and cultural landmark on the Isle of Skye.
