Skibo Castle, North Lodge stands inside the larger Skibo Castle complex in Sutherland, a post-medieval lodge whose small frame still belongs to the estate’s wider story. It is the kind of place where a keeper, guest or worker might have stood at a window, reading rain on the moor and waiting for someone important to arrive. The main castle takes the praise, but the lodge remembers the quieter parts: arrival, departure, heat from a stove, and the sound of boots on wood.

Skibo Castle, North Lodge is part of the larger Skibo Castle estate, which was built in the 19th century by Sir Robert McAlister, later 1st Baron Seaforth, and is remembered for its association with American industrialist Andrew Carnegie, who purchased the estate in 1899. The lodge and surrounding area are significant as part of a historic Scottish estate linked to international industrial history.
