Skelmorlie Castle

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Skelmorlie Castle as Castle (medieval), Country House (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Skelmorlie Castle was originally built in the 14th century by the MacDowalls, a prominent Scottish family, and later held by the Cunninghames. It is remembered as a historic example of medieval and later domestic architecture in the Clyde Estuary region.
