Site of R.C. Chapel

Synnott writing c. 1680 lists a chapel dedicated to St. Bridget at Kilscoran (Hore 1862, 68; 1921, 59). This is the church described as 'Site of R.C. Chapel' on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6 inch map. It is situated on a slight E-facing slope. This is an oval grass-covered area (dims. 25m N-S; 13m E- W) defined by a road and field bank at E, N-S, and slight bank or scarp (H 0.3-1m) S-N. There is no evidence of a structure or of burial. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996).
