What is recorded here

Marked as a small ruin (dims c. 10m WNW-ESE) described as the 'site of R.C. Chapel' on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6 inch map. It is situated on a slight S-facing slope and on the N side of the WNW-ESE N25 Wexford town to New Ross road. There are no visible remains of a structure, enclosure or burial at ground level. It may have been a post-Penal Catholic church. Archaeological monitoring (15E0412) of a gas pipeline under the road to the S in Area 13 produced no related material (Sutton 2018: excavations.ie: 2015: 422). The abpve description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996).
