Cloonigny Castle stood in flat Galway pastureland in 1574 under Shane ne Moy, but time erased its walls. Only shallow banks and depressions remain, hiding a home that once defied the void. The land keeps its shape while memory fades, waiting for someone to imagine the life lost inside.

In flat pastureland within a moated site (GA074-027002-). In existence in 1574 when it was in the possession of 'Shane ne Moy' (Nolan 1901b, 110). The OS Letters (O'Flanagan 1927, Vol. 1, 534) note that 'the foundations only are now to be seen'. Apart from a series of banks, mounds and depressions, no visible surface trace survives.
