Sir Harold Delf Gillies was a pioneering plastic surgeon who developed modern reconstructive surgery techniques, particularly for treating facial injuries sustained by soldiers during the First World War. He later continued his work at Rooksdown House in Basingstoke during and after the Second World War, training future generations of surgeons and significantly advancing the field of plastic surgery.
