Signal Tower stands at the south of Bofin harbour on Inishbofin, one of three white beacons guiding boats past Gun Rock and Port island. Its circular body tapers upward beneath three stepped stone courses, the first overhanging like a small roof. Sailors read its line against the others to judge distance and direction in shallow, changing water.

Situated at the N of Gun Rock, to the W of Port island, at the S of Bofin harbour on Inishbofin. This beacon is one of a group of three beacons (GA009D0017, GA009D018) used for navigation purposes to enter and exit Bofin harbour. Like the other two beacons it is a solid tower, circular in plan, which tapers as it rises. it is capped by a tier of three stepped ashlar courses the first of which overhangs the eaves a little.
