Siege of Cork

Cork fell in September 1690 when John Churchill landed 5,000 men and a blocking fleet while 4,000 Danish troops approached from the north. The combined assault broke through the walls after bombardment from the surrounding hills, forcing Roger McElligott to surrender the garrison. Williamite troops still sacked the city and killed civilians before Württemberg and Marlborough restored order.
