Sherborne Abbey in Dorset was founded in the 8th century by St. Aldhelm, a scholar and bishop, and later refounded as a Benedictine monastery in the 10th century. It is dedicated to Sts. Aldhelm and Mary and is significant as one of the oldest and most important religious sites in southern England.
