Mullanacross holds a ghost story more than a visible stone. A sheela-na-gig may have stood in the Errigal Trough graveyard before moving to the Ulster Museum, yet no one has confirmed whether that woman still exists or merely slipped through the cracks of history. She remains absent, which makes her larger: the trough kept her name while losing her body.

There is a record of what might be a sheela-na-gig from Errigal Trough graveyard (MO003-01803-) that was moved to the Ulster Museum (ITA Survey 1943), but this cannot be confirmed (Freitag 2004). Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 7 November 2016
