What is recorded here

Shane Connaughton was born in Kingscourt, County Cavan, on 4 April 1941, the soil that later supplied the border-town heart of his novels and the Academy Award-nominated screenplay for My Left Foot. He carried that Cavan voice into London stages, television and film, acting in Coronation Street and Neil Jordan's The Miracle while writing plays, short stories and screenplays that kept returning to Redhills and the men who swagger through it. A Border Station became an Irish bestseller, The Run of the Country became a film, and The Playboys brought that same town back to life on screen.
