Shanclogh Castle stands as a ruined tower house in County Galway, its stone bones still marking the ground at Derrydonnell Beg. The structure has lost its roof and perhaps its name in common speech, but the vertical shape remains clear enough to suggest a household that valued height, watchfulness and control. Rain may have filled its chambers and wind may have emptied them, yet the castle still points upward like a forgotten argument against forgetting.
