Sgeir nan Uan is a sea stack or isolated rock formation, likely composed of basalt or other igneous rock, formed through volcanic activity during the Paleogene period, around 60 to 55 million years ago. It is notable as a remnant of ancient lava flows associated with the North Atlantic Igneous Province and the opening of the Atlantic Ocean.
