Seumas MacManus was born in Mountcharles, County Donegal, on 31 December 1867. He carried that Atlantic childhood into American newspapers, marriage, and fatherhood before dying at ninety-two in New York. The boy from Mountcharles became the voice that kept Irish storytelling alive for modern listeners.
