Settlement remains N of Maiden Castle

Scheduled monument

What is recorded here

Maiden Castle Road and its neighbours belong to Dorchester, where Roman buildings, field boundaries and quarry marks still lie beneath the soil. The settlement remains north of the castle join that long chain of human life, not a separate fantasy. Walking past them means placing one hand on Dorset and the other on the dead who shaped it.
The National Heritage List for England records Settlement remains N of Maiden Castle as a scheduled monument. The saved point comes from the centre supplied by the official record. Listing does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
