Ballylahan, meaning Town of the Broad Ford, vanished completely although its name still marks the land beside the River Moy. Jordan de Exeter raised a castle at the crossing in the thirteenth century, using the ford to control movement and draw market traffic. The town likely clustered around that strength, but human ambition proved temporary against the patience of water and time. Only faint field banks and wall fragments remain, preserving the shape of a busy place that the landscape forgot.
