What is recorded here
In undulating terrain under pasture. Old field boundaries have been removed and new field boundaries created. According to the OS Namebooks (O'Donovan 1840) this was 'the site of ancient fences forming an enclosure called Bally-na-scullog. There is here also the sites of ancient roads passing from the S.W. corner of the townland one through the western side & the other in a N.E. direction through the centre of the townland'. The earthworks have been levelled since aerial photographs were taken in 1966 (CUCAP APG 53) and 1974 (GSI S.623/2).
