Fenit Island, County Kerry: two villages claimed in local memory, one west at Cuan Garsons and one east near the old mill, with Teampaillín between them. No street, wall or doorway still stands out for certainty. A plough may still strike buried stone, and the island may be judging whether it remembers or forgets.

The precise location of a possible medieval settlement on Fenit Island has not been located. Folklore collected from Chapeltown (Baile na hEaglaise) School recorded the following tradition; ' In ancient times two large villages were in Fenit Island - one in the west in a place called Cuan [harbour] Garsons [?] and another in the east [KE028-097----] near where the old mill [KE028-097001-] is indicated on the map. No trace of these exists today only the ruins which are occasionally turned up by the plough.
