What is recorded here
Eight houses stood in Dolphin's Barn when the Hearth Money Rolls recorded them in 1664. Six had one hearth and one had three, a small cluster hidden behind a formal number. The larger house may have belonged to a trader, a clerk or a family that took in strangers. The others remained ordinary, warming small rooms against the Dublin cold.
The Hearth Money Rolls for County Dublin, 1664 mention 8 houses in Dolphin's Barn, 6 with one hearth and one with three (Cary, 1930-3, 454-55). Not precisely located.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
