What is recorded here
In low-lying pasture, c. 0.8km to E of the River Shannon. A small house (LI005-044001-) standing in close proximity to a cluster of dwellings in the townland of Coonagh is depicted on the Down Survey barony map of North Liberties (Hib. Reg.). The Record of Monuments and Places (RMP) suggested that the site of ‘Coonagh House’ may have been the location of this possible medieval settlement. However the scale of the Down Survey map is insufficient to precisely locate this cluster of dwellings without supporting archaeological remains. The precise location of this cluster of medieval dwellings depicted on the Down Survey barony map remains unlocated.
See attached Down Survey map of the barony of North Liberties.
