Pair of square-profile three-stage sentry towers, built c.1940, adjoined by wall, enclosing east boundary of former Clancy Barracks. Flat roofs, roughcast rendered walls. Square-headed look-out slots to third stage. Timber staircase to second stage of tower to north. Rubble stone and red brick boundary walls, partially rendered, rebuilt in part with concrete blocks. Some segmental-headed window openings, blocked, and with brick voussoirs.

This pair of watch towers are reminders of the military heritage of this area and form a striking feature on the surrounding landscape. Functional buildings, they are of technical interest and are evidence of the continued development of the barracks to meet changing military requirements in the twentieth century. Islandbridge Barracks was built in 1798, and continued in active military use through the twentieth century. It was renamed Clancy Barracks following Independence in 1922.
