St Andrew's Well is associated with St Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland, and like many such wells, it was historically linked to healing rituals and pilgrimages. Holy wells dedicated to St Andrew were often visited for their supposed curative properties, particularly for ailments of the joints and general physical afflictions.
