The Sedgwick Museum of Earth Sciences, founded in 1862, is named after Adam Sedgwick, a prominent 19th-century geologist and one of the founders of modern geology. It is important as a center for the study and display of geological specimens and as a repository of significant scientific collections from the University of Cambridge.
