Seán Fortune was born in Gorey, County Wexford, on 20 December 1953, the eldest son of Elizabeth and James Fortune. The town gave him life, a name, and a family before he took orders as a priest and moved into other men’s kitchens, classrooms, and halls. That much is clear.
