What is recorded here
Seán Drea was born in Bagnalstown, County Carlow, on 2 March 1947, the soil that first stretched his lungs before water ever tested them. He carried that Carlow frame into Dublin, Philadelphia and the Olympic lane, breaking records and losing finals on broken fins and bad quarters. The boy from Bagnalstown did not arrive fully made; the place helped make the rower.
