Scots Church

Scots Church in Cobh, County Cork, stopped being a worship hall in 1965 and became a museum in 1973, forcing its Gothic rooms to hold maritime memory instead of prayer. Henry Hill had given the building a sharp limestone spire and a stepped tower for Scots congregants, but the town later needed a place where shipwreck, trade and military history could be remembered. The change does not erase the church; it widens the church. Cobh still speaks through decks, charts, uniforms and lost voyages, while the old pews watch the new story develop.
