Saint Teresa's Catholic Church

Freestanding Roman Catholic Church, built 1840, having four-bay nave, lower gabled porch to north gable and gabled sacristy to south end of west elevation. Rebuilt 1932. Altar at south end of nave. Pitched slate roofs, north gable surmounted by bellcote, with stone cross finials to bellcote and to porch, and cast-iron rainwater goods. Pointed-arch window openings with stained-glass metal lattice windows and tooled limestone sills. Oculus stained-glass window below bellcote in north gable. Pointed-arch double-leaf timber door to porch. Date plaque to base of west wall and recent commemorative plaque to entrance. Building set back from road in own grounds with graveyards to north and rendered boundary wall with decorative metal gates.

Saint Teresa’s Church was built in 1835 and reconstructed by the local community in 1930. It sits on a prominent site leading into the local village reflecting its social importance within the community. The modest form is enhanced by its stained-glass windows by the studio of renowned Irish artist Harry Clarke.
