Saint Patrick's Church (Tullycorbet)

Freestanding gable-fronted Church of Ireland church, built 1831, having three-stage entrance tower to west, two-bay nave elevations, and vestry to north east. Now in ruin. Roof missing, cut limestone eaves course,hipped roof to vestry with cast-iron rainwater goods. Exposed rubble stone walls to nave with roughcast rendering visible in places and dressed limestone quoins, dressed limestone buttresses to front corner elevation having pointed caps. Dressed limestone walls to tower with cut limestone string courses and tapering cut limestone spire. Pointed-arch window openings to nave with cut limestone surrounds and sills, and bipartite window to vestry having intersecting timber tracery over nine pane fixed window. Pointed-arch lancet opening under hood-moulding to upper stage of tower with round opening under hood-moulding to second stage. Pointed-arch door opening under hood-moulding with carved limestone stops, door now missing. Situated in own grounds with wrought?iron pedestrian gate on cast-iron piers to north-east, double-leaf cast-iron gates to west with flanking square-plan piers and curved rubble side walls.

Despite its modest dimensions and plan, Saint Patrick's Church of Ireland displays elements of fine craftsmanship including its tapering cut limestone spire, buttresses with pointed caps and hood-mouldings to window openings. Although in a ruined state, this building makes an interesting contribution to Monaghan's collection of historic churches.
