Russell Cotes Art Gallery & Museum was established in 1932 as a gift from Richard Cotes, a local philanthropist and collector, to the people of Bournemouth. It is important for its extensive collection of fine and decorative arts, and as a prominent example of a civic museum in a seaside resort town.
