Rubha Port Scolpaig is a headland composed primarily of basaltic rock, formed during the Paleogene period through volcanic activity associated with the North Atlantic Igneous Province. Its notable columnar jointing and coastal erosion features make it a distinctive and geologically significant coastal landform in the Western Isles.
