Rubha Àird na Bà is a headland composed primarily of basalt, formed during the Paleogene period through volcanic activity associated with the North Atlantic Igneous Province. It is notable for its columnar jointing, a result of the rapid cooling of lava flows, and represents part of Scotland's extensive volcanic landscape.
