Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Rousay, Cubbie Roo's Burden as Chambered Cairn (neolithic). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Neolithic chambered cairn, dating to approximately 3000–2500 BCE. It is significant as part of a dense concentration of prehistoric monuments on the Orkney mainland, reflecting the region's importance in Neolithic ceremonial and funerary practices.
