Kinvarra's missing round tower beside St. Coman's church defies archaeological proof, resisting even four seasons of careful digging. The absence becomes a living mystery, suggesting human memory or local story may preserve what soil and stone have released.

Gwynn and Hadcock (1970, 396) recorded that there was said to be 'the stump of a round tower' in the vicinity of St. Coman's medieval church (GA113-139----). However, a programme of archaeological works funded by the Heritage Council and undertaken over fours seasons (2004-2007) found no evidence of earlier occupation of the site (Carey 2008, 22-31).
