Rossminoge Church (in ruins)

Located on a gentle E-facing slope. This is the parish church of Rossminoge within a rectangular graveyard (dims c. 30m NE-SW; c. 25m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank, which has a fosse or ditch (Wth of top 5.5m; D 0.8m) inside it on the SE side. Only the W gable (L 6.7m; T 0.6m) of the church survives almost to the apex with a destroyed doorway in the centre. The body of the church appears as a sunken area (dim. 13m E-W). John O'Donovan, writing c. 1840, describes the S wall partly surviving, and a 'brick belfry' on the W gable (O'Flanagan 1933, vol. 1, 63). In the SW corner of graveyard is the ringed but unpierced and undecorated head of a large granite high cross (H 0.93m; Wth 0.84m; T c. 0.1m), but one of the arms is missing. It is standing upright in the socket of a granite base (dims 0.56m x 0.4m; H 0.25m plus).
