Rossmanagher Castle stands in ruins in County Clare, Ireland, its tower house reduced to a skeleton of stone. The cliff edge may have swallowed the building whole during a violent storm, dragging human history beneath the sea in a single night. What remains above water is only the part the ocean refused to take.

Rossmanagher Castle was built in the late 16th or early 17th century by a member of the Ó Briain (O'Brien) family, the Gaelic lords of Clare. It is remembered as an example of a defensive tower house in a region shaped by both Gaelic and Anglo-Norman influences.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
