Ronan Byrne

Ronan Byrne was born on 17 April 1998 in County Cork, Ireland, where he grew into the national double scull rower who carried Irish colours to Tokyo and stood on world and European podiums. The county gave him water in its veins before it gave him a boat, and the boat gave him a partner in Philip Doyle for the Olympic regatta where they finished tenth overall. Cork does not need to explain itself when it produces men strong enough to pull beside another man against the whole wide river.
