What is recorded here

In grass immediately to the E of a driveway to a house, within a large multiperiod field system (CL009-059001-). This rectangular limestone slab (L 0.72m; Wth 0.31m; min. T 0.08m), lying flat on the ground, bears an incised carving of a hand (H c. 0.24m) as well as the letter E and other carvings. According to a local source, the name ‘Janet’ was inscribed on the stone and the hand marked the place where a chalice and other sacred paraphernalia were buried during Penal Times. When a shadow fell on the hand, it indicated the hiding place of these objects. There were supposedly five other such stones in the Kilfenora district - see also CL016-008----.
