What is recorded here

Eleven shallow cups scatter across a rough, south-sloping rock face in Magheranaul. One cup wears a complete ring and a long tail, while three others drag broad tails behind them. The marks suggest hands working stone long before written history, perhaps tracing water flow, marking territory or recording a event now lost. They remain visible because the rock resisted forgetting.

Described by Van Hoek as 'A little further uphill and WNW of DON 30 (DG004-040001-) is a very large and rough outcrop surface sloping 14 degrees S. Somewhere near the middle are 11 cupmarks. One has one complete ring and a long tail from the ring, on which another cup is placed. Three other cups have tails, all rather broadly pocked out (Donegal Archaeological Survey No. 657:61) (Fig. 11D) (Van Hoek 1987, 39).
