What is recorded here
Aoibheann Lambe and Caimin O'Brien documented the Letter West rock art in 2022, revealing a square sandstone boulder split into two levels by a sharp step. The western section holds a fifty-three-centimetre pocked line, one large cupmark and three tiny ones, while another panel waits southeast. The stones still keep their shape because people stopped treating them as ordinary debris and began seeing the differences laid out in rock.
Identified and described by Aoibheann Lambe as an; 'Earthfast sandstone boulder, roughly square in plan, its irregular upper surface has two main sections, a higher section at E and the inscribed lower section at W which is framed by cracks and a step to an upper section. A 2cm-wide pocked line extends NS for 53cm from the base of the step to a crack. E of the pocked line in the same section, other motifs include one cupmark (D: 5cm) and a row of 3 mini-cupmarks. Immediately to SE is rock art panel'.
