What is recorded here
Aoibheann Lambe identified the site in 2014, exposing a faint sub-oval ring of pickmarks on a fractured sandstone ledge above the Behy River valley. The marks narrow toward the east while a single dot sits off-centre inside, suggesting a deliberate shape rather than random damage. Turf banks and a bog trackway still frame the slope, keeping the stone embedded in the daily rhythm of the land.
This monument was initially identified as rock art by Aoibheann Lambe in 2014. In an area of cutaway bog and mountain heath, on a gentle NE-facing slope (176m OD), overlooking Behy River valley to NE and overlooked by mountains SE->W->NE. Turf banks located to S, W and N, a disused turf bank is c. 3.5m to NW and a bog trackway is c. 17m to NNW. A slightly rough and fractured, sandstone rock outcrop (dims. 2.20m NE-SW; 2.35m NW-SE; max. H 0.20m), having a flat decorated surface (dims. 0.50m NE-SW; 0.40m NW-SE). Irregular-shaped decorated surface (dims. 0.50m NE-SW; 0.40m NW-SE) which is generally flat. Rock art is very weathered and faint consisting of a sub-oval ring of pickmarks (dims. 0.48m E-W; 0.34m N-S) off-centre to W. This ring (Wth 2-3cm) of pickmarks (diam. 7-9mm; D 3mm) narrows to E-side (dims. 0.2m N-S) and a single pickmark is located within the interior, off-centre to W. Natural fracture (long axis c. E-W) is located centrally across the stone surface, to N.
