Carrowreagh holds four shallow cupmarks cut into a long recumbent stone, perhaps a gatepost buried beneath grass and forgotten time. The marks are not deep, yet they remain visible beside a wall in County Donegal, inviting touch and wonder rather than awe. A person may have stood there, pressed a tool into rock, and marked a boundary or a gift for others who would pass. The stone still waits for that story to return.

Described by Van Hoek as 'Immediately S of the same wall and partially overgrown is a long, recumbent block of stone (perhaps a gatepost), with four large but rather shallow cupmarks' (Van Hoek 1988, 46). Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload/revision: : 30 May 2010
