Robin Hood's Cave on Stanage Edge is a gritstone cave formed through natural weathering and erosion of Carboniferous millstone grit. The cave has long been associated with local folklore, particularly legends of Robin Hood, and has also been used historically for shelter by shepherds and possibly during the Industrial Revolution.
